Since October 2007, Martin Gaedke is a Full Professor of Computer Science at Chemnitz University of Technology in Germany and owner of the professorship for Distributed and Self-organizing Systems (VSR Research Group). He is also a member of the Council of the Department of Computer Science.
Prior to that position, he was a senior scientist at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), and managing and leading the IT-Management and Web Engineering research group at the Institute of Telematics at the University of Karlsruhe. He also managed Web projects and consulting activities with focus on Internet and WWW technologies at the Telecooperation Office, a third-party funded know-how transfer group. In his projects Martin applies light-weight respectively agile practices, methods, and principles. He is a Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) and a Certified Scrum ProductOwner (CSPO).
Martin has been working on Web Engineering since 1996; he is co-founder of the WebComposition approach, which is one of the first reuse-oriented Web Engineering approaches for the development and evolution of distributed Web-based solutions. Since 1997, he has been responsible for the WebComposition program, and developed together with his teams and partners, including Hewlett-Packard, Microsoft Research, Agilent, and SAP, several reference implementations, supporting systems, models, and processes applying the core-ideas of the WebComposition approach. Currently, he is working on the 4th generation, which focuses on the composition of solutions applying federated Identity (Single Sign On across organizational borders and other aspects), managed SOA, data grid services, and concepts like open linked data and paper trail.
